Golfing in The Bahamas

Posted by: Nassau Paradise Island on February 04, 2025

With more than 300 days of sunshine and courses open year-round, it’s always golf season in The Bahamas! You can enjoy playing a round on beckoning greens come spring, winter, summer, or fall. Plus, direct flights to Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport allow you to escape for the weekend, or take advantage of all that The Bahamas has to offer and enjoy a longer stay.

To help you plan the perfect golf trip, we’ve put together everything you need to know about planning the perfect golf getaway in Paradise. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1. Plan your (golf) course of attack.

First things first: Where to play? You’ve got your choice of two of the Caribbean’s best golf courses right here in Nassau & Paradise Island.

The Ocean Club Golf Course is a 7,100-yard, 18-hole, par-72 course on Paradise Island. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, this championship course can be doubly challenging when you combine its Bahamian bunkers and crosswinds with distracting, albeit breathtaking, views of sparkling turquoise waters. In particular, do your best to focus on the 12th hole (a 208-yard, par-3 with a sloping, well-bunkered green) and the beautiful yet intimidating 17th hole that runs parallel to the ocean.

Call Ocean Club’s Golf Shop at 1-242-363-6682 to book your tee time, lessons, and more.

If you’re looking for a top-rated golf course in Nassau, you’re in luck! The Royal Blue Golf Course at Baha Mar is a must-play. Uniquely designed as two courses in one, this 18-hole, par-72 golf course features rolling fairways and spectacular ocean views on the front nine, while the back nine takes you through otherworldly “moonscapes” and lush tropical greenery. The Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course spans 7,189 yards and offers different levels of play for every level of golfer, whether you’re a seasoned pro or a novice enthusiast.

Call Royal Blue’s Golf Shop at 1-242-788-4653 to book your tee time, lessons, and more.

2. Decide where you want to stay and play.

Lavish resorts, quaint hideaways, beachfront glamour, or laid-back island vibes: Nassau & Paradise Island’s hotels and resorts are delightfully unique, catering to every type of golfer. To be closer to the golf courses, you may want to stay at Atlantis Paradise Island to tee off at the legendary Tom Weiskopf-designed Ocean Club Golf Course — recognised as one of the Top Ten Resort Courses in North America and the Caribbean by Golf Digest Magazine. Or, settle in at the luxurious Baha Mar, so you can virtually roll right out of bed and onto the fairways of Royal Blue — a signature Jack Nicklaus-design course.

No matter where you choose to stay in Paradise, you’ll be treated to lush greenery, gorgeous beaches, and warm Bahamian hospitality. Add in a vibrant culinary scene, luxury spas, and exciting casinos, and you’ve got the makings of a golf getaway you won’t soon forget.

3. Choose a set of new-to-you clubs.

One thing that makes a golf vacation in The Bahamas so convenient is that you can pack light. So, don’t worry about travelling with your clubs. When you golf in Nassau & Paradise Island, you not only get to take in gorgeous scenery from the greens, you also have the opportunity to try out some of the game’s top equipment.

Both Ocean Club and Royal Blue have an extensive selection of luxury golf clubs available for rent, which means you can leave yours at home and try out a set of Callaway, Taylor Made, Titleist, Itobori, or PXG clubs.
