For even more Bahamian art, be sure The Current Gallery and Art Center is on your list of galleries to explore. Here, you’ll find a vast collection of contemporary art, the Fairwind Exhibition — which explores the ideologies, beliefs, and lifestyles that have shaped Bahamian culture through paintings, photography, sculpture, and artefacts — and one of the largest collections of Bahamian art in Nassau & Paradise Island. You can also explore the ECCHO Museum, an extension of The Current that stands for Expressive Collaborations and Creative House of Opportunities. If you want a more intimate cultural experience, Doongalik Studios Art Gallery is an artistic gem. Founded in the 1970s by the late Jackson Burnside III, architect, artist and cultural advocate, and his wife, Pam, the couple spent their lifetime promoting the country's artistic talent. Doongalik now showcases the work of dozens of local artists throughout the year, exhibiting everything from paintings and sculptures to ceramics and quilts.

History

One of the most immersive ways to step back in time is by visiting Clifton Heritage Park, where the rich cultural heritage of The Bahamas is showcased in its natural landscape. The park highlights our region’s deep historical roots — as you explore its trails, you'll gain insight into The Bahamas’ journey from pre-Columbian civilisations through colonial times and beyond.

Fort Charlotte, Fort Fincastle, and Fort Montagu stand as reminders of The Bahamas’ strategic importance in the 18th century.
