NASSAU, The Bahamas, June 6, 2023 – Nassau & Paradise Island Promotion Board today announced that it will welcome the first-ever nonstop flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) in partnership with JetBlue. Now available for booking, the flight will operate once weekly on Saturdays starting November 4. The new route will offer customers JetBlue’s award-winning Mint® premium experience.
Joy Jibrilu, CEO of the Nassau & Paradise Island Promotion Board said, “We are continuing to see a strong visitation to Nassau & Paradise Island from Los Angeles, and we are excited to expand access and offer the first nonstop flight from LAX in the history of the destination. Nassau and Paradise Island are the perfect getaway for those on the West Coast craving a tropical vacation with our white sand beaches, turquoise waters, world-class resorts and unmatched Bahamian hospitality. We are so pleased with the partnership with JetBlue, and excited to celebrate this milestone in driving tourism to The Bahamas.”
Located in Nassau, Lynden Pindling International Airport is the first airport outside of the U.S. to implement TSA PreCheck and one of the few select airports offering U.S. Customs and Immigration Preclearance, along with U.S. Global Entry, making it easy for those arriving in the destination to get through security and begin their vacation or arrive back home in a breeze.
JetBlue currently offers nonstop service to Nassau from seven U.S. markets, including Fort Lauderdale, Boston and New York. The new LAX service to Nassau is the first flight from the West Coast.
“Nassau is a very popular destination among our customers, and we are thrilled to launch the first nonstop flight from Los Angeles to Nassau, pioneering this unique service for an unserved market,” said David Jehn, vice president, network planning and partnerships, JetBlue “We look forward to continuing our relationship with the Nassau & Paradise Island Promotion Board and introducing the unique offerings of the island to our JetBlue customers.”
The news of the first nonstop flight comes at an exciting time for the destination that’s celebrating 50 years of independence this July. Nassau also recently welcomed the first-ever beachfront boutique resort Goldwynn Resort & Residences on Cable Beach earlier this year.
