8 Things You Didn't Know About Chelsea Handler

Are you a fan of Chelsea Handler’s hugely successful late-night TV show Chelsea Lately and best-selling books? Mark your calendar for May 23, when Chelsea brings her one-of-a-kind, outspoken brand of humor to Paradise! The best-selling author and former E! Network star will be on stage at Atlantis Paradise Island in a hilarious performance you won’t want to miss.

Chelsea is not known for holding anything back, but we’ve uncovered some little-known facts about her.

Here are eight things you may not know about Chelsea Handler:

1.     She’s one of the world’s most influential people, according to Time magazine. In 2012, Chelsea appeared on Time’s 100 Most Influential People list.

2.     She’s also appeared on the Forbes Celebrity list. In 2010, Chelsea was ranked on the Forbes Celebrity 100 at No. 98.

3.     She’s the youngest of six children. Chelsea was born in 1975 in New Jersey, the baby of a large, middle-class family.

4.     She’s working on an upcoming project with Netflix. If you loved Chelsea on TV, stay tuned for 2016 – she has a Netflix show in development, which she envisions as a more serious program than Chelsea Lately. She’s described it as a “faster, cooler” 60 Minutes.

5.     She’s a five-time New York Times best-selling author. Four of her books were number one on the Times list, including last year’s Uganda Be Kidding Me. She also has her own columns in Cosmopolitan and NOW, a UK celebrity magazine.

6.     Her show Chelsea Lately aired more than 1,000 episodes. The late-night program ran on E! from 2007 to 2014 and was broadcast in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, and New Zealand.

7.     Her foray into stand-up comedy was almost by accident. Chelsea was pursuing an acting career and developed a stand-up routine to deliver at auditions in hope that it would make her more memorable. Her first comedy sketch was based on a not-so-humorous incident – her DUI arrest.

8.     She looks out for her friends and their families. When she was hosting Chelsea Lately, she set up a scholarship fund for each of the show staff members’ babies – in spite of never going to college herself.
