Bahamas for All Ages

Whether you’re young or young-at-heart, there’s nothing nicer than a sunny getaway–and The Bahamas fits the bill. From getting here on one of the many convenient nonstop flights that arrive daily in Nassau to experiencing our abundance of attractions and activities, everyone can enjoy a vacation in Paradise. Here’s our guide to experiencing Nassau Paradise Island, regardless of your age or ability.

Visiting The Bahamas With Babies

Nassau Paradise Island is a great getaway destination for babies and toddlers. Soft, sandy beaches and crystal-clear, calm waters are perfect for little ones who love to dig and splash. And don’t forget little ones under age two are often able to fly for free! It’s never too early to start making special vacation memories with the youngest members of your family. Check out our travel tips and packing lists for helpful suggestions about visiting The Bahamas with babies and children of all ages.

Ardastra Gardens & Zoo is a family-friendly outing in Nassau Paradise Island

Wondering how to keep babies busy in The Bahamas? Head to Atlantis, Paradise Island, where your little swimmers will love splashing in the kids’ pools and checking out the fish and underwater creatures in The Dig (the shady tunnels can provide a welcome reprieve from the warm sun, too.) Toddlers will love Ardastra Gardens and Wildlife Conservation Centre, a small zoo that’s perfect for little legs that tire easily. They’ll be able to strut with flamingos and get up close and personal with many colorful and interesting animals.

Chances are, your young travel companions will get such a kick out of the sparkling waters and swaying palm trees, they won’t need much planned to keep them entertained! Pack a plastic shovel and pail (or, let’s be honest, an empty yogurt container and a plastic spoon–kids aren’t picky) and they’ll be thrilled to dig in the sand.

Make sure to call ahead and reserve a crib, a cot, a stroller, or any other equipment you might need to make your stay in The Bahamas comfortable. Many of our pools and beaches offer cabanas or shelters for shade, but consider bringing a pop-up sun shelter if you’re planning on spending long periods on the beach. And if you’d like a little more space for your family to stretch out, consider a residential-style accommodation option that feels like a home away from home.

Kid-Friendly Bahamas Vacations

It’s no wonder kids love The Bahamas so much: it’s jam-packed with all their favorite things. Beaches, pools, waterslides, dolphins, ice cream, pirates...the list goes on and on. Family-friendly activities will delight parents and kids alike, and supervised kids’ clubs give children and teens the occasional much-needed break, too.

Actors dressed as pirates perform for children on board a replica pirate ship.

For some one-of-a-kind family fun, check out the Pirates of Nassau Museum, where kids can board a replica pirate ship and learn about Nassau’s infamous Golden Age of Piracy in a fun, interactive way. Just can’t get enough pirates? Head out for a daytime cruise aboard Blackbeard’s Revenge, where kids can simulate steering a 500-ton Spanish galleon on the high sea!

Older kids ages 12 and up will love a trail ride with Happy Trails horseback riding. After some basic riding instruction, kids and teens can head out on a leisurely, 1.5-hour trail ride. No previous experience is required!

For the dolphin lover in your family, a day at Dolphin Cay is a must. Guests can take part in non-disruptive “interactions” with the dolphins and other animals in this sophisticated, 14-acre marine habitat. Best of all, each visit to Dolphin Cay supports the Atlantis Blue Project Foundation, which is committed to conserving the delicate ecosystem of The Bahamas.

If you’ve got picky eaters, don’t worry: Nassau Paradise Island is packed with delicious dishes to satisfy all ages and palates! Our guide to family-friendly dining offers some great suggestions for meals that everyone will enjoy.

Seniors' Travel in The Bahamas

Generally, in The Bahamas, the same adult rates apply for everyone aged 21 and over. However, some hotels and resorts do offer special veteran rates, so be sure to call and ask before making your reservation if this may apply to you!

Are you looking to cross some items off your bucket list or simply to relax and enjoy the sunshine? You can do both in Nassau Paradise Island. Learn to snorkel or dive with Stuart Cove’s, experience five-star gourmet dining at Graycliff, or unwind on some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Feeling lucky? The Bahamas is home to two of the Caribbean’s biggest and most exciting casinos–try your luck at one of the table games or pick a slot machine that looks promising and see what happens!

When you feel like sightseeing, the Explore Nassau walking tour, a leisurely stroll with a small group around the city’s historic downtown, provides an intimate overview of some of The Bahamas’ most prominent and interesting sites. Want to rest your legs? Hop on the comfy air-conditioned bus for the 2.5 hour City and Country Tour that’s the perfect introduction to the city of Nassau and beyond.

Pop by The Sanctuary at Baha Mar daily at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. for animal feedings or to learn more about Bahamian wildlife and conservation efforts.
