If you’re a movie lover, you won’t want to miss the 12th Annual Bahamas International Film Festival. From December 9-12, 2015, BIFF will be in Nassau, so it’s the perfect opportunity to combine a love of film with a getaway in Paradise!
The goal of the Bahamas International Film Festival is to show the local Bahamian community and international visitors a diverse selection of films from around the world as well as providing a unique cultural experience and educational programs about the past, present, and future of cinema.
Here’s a sneak peek at some of the films you can take in during the Bahamas International Film Festival.
If you like comedies: Enjoy a peek into the lives of six peculiar characters, each with their own unique stories to tell, in Asphalte. You’ll meet an astronaut who’s just fallen out of the sky, an ‘80s actress trying desperately to make a comeback, and a man in a wheelchair who may or may not be falling in love with his nurse. Asphalte will be offering up lots of laughs on Saturday, December 12 at 2:45pm.
If you like drama: In the 19th century, the real-life Eadweard Muybridge, known for photographing nude and deformed subjects, murdered his wife’s lover and became the last American to receive the justifiable homicide verdict. It doesn’t get much more dramatic than this. Check out Eadweard on Thursday, December 10 at 8pm.
If you like romance: When Meera falls in love with tall, blonde, Australian Will, everything seems perfect – but their relationship is very “un-Indian!” Will she follow her family’s wishes or follow her heart? Find out in unINDIAN, Friday, December 11 at 2:15pm.
If you like documentaries: The Secret Ocean is directed by Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of Jacques Cousteau, and introduces the audience to more than 30 underwater species filmed in 3D. Fun fact: the brilliant turquoise waters of The Bahamas were among the filming locations for this 40-minute documentary, which airs Friday, December 11 at 12:30pm.
If you like action movies: Don’t miss The Crew (Braqueurs), a French film that takes viewers on a nonstop thrill ride through the streets of Paris complete with carjacking, explosions, and tons of action! Catch it on Friday, December 11 at 7pm.
If you like biographies: Check out Let’s Dance to the Rhythm, an Indian musical film that’s a tribute to Goa’s rich but largely unrecognized musical history. The film features timeless 20 songs that’ll have you dancing in your seat! Get ready to Dance on Wednesday, December 9 at 1pm.
